🦜Introducing . . . Me! Piper – Ella Strawberry’s Feathered Sidekick

Posted by: Piper the Parrot – full-time friend, part-time troublemaker, and proud character in the Ella Strawberry series!

Well hellooo there, fellow readers and birdwatchers!

It’s about time I introduced myself. I’m Piper—the African Grey parrot with a big brain, a bigger beak, and a starring role (if I do say so myself) in the upcoming Ella Strawberry series. You may know my human, Ella Strawberry, the 16-year-old main character. Smart girl. Big heart. Bit of a mystery magnet.

And me? I’m her sidekick, therapist, wingman, and comic relief. 🦜✨

🍼 We've Been Together Since I Had Pinfeathers

Ella’s been my human since I was a chick. She raised me, trained me, and taught me everything I know. (Okay, some things I taught myself . . . like how to open the treat cabinet.) We’re inseparable. We go everywhere together. Bike rides? I’m on her shoulder. Backpack? I’m in it. Once we snuck into school, but we both got sent home for that one. I can’t keep my beak shut that long. Then there was the time we went to the library. That went well. Why do grown-ups like it quiet? Anyway, me and Ella blend like my favorite trail mix.

🧠 I Know Her Better Than Anyone

I know Ella’s routine like I know the sound of a snack bag opening. I can copy her voice and it tricks her parents. We both get a good laugh. We even finish each other’s sentences. And trust me—when she talks, I listen. When she cries? I snuggle in close. Because sometimes . . . Ella feels like nobody gets her.

Her parents love her, sure, but they’re busy. Always rushing. Meetings. Emails. Events. And Ella? She’s their only child. That gets lonely. So I make it my job to keep her company, even when she doesn’t realize she needs it.

😏 Okay . . . I Get Us in Trouble Sometimes

Look, I might have a sarcasm problem. I might repeat things Ella says at very inconvenient times. And sometimes Mom and Dad gets mad when they hear me say things like,“Oh sure, because you’re always on time.” Oops. 😅

Also . . . I might climb on the furniture, rummage through the kitchen cabinets, or “accidentally” turn the TV on when no one's looking—except it’s always the News. What are tariffs? Do they taste good?

Sometimes I just can’t keep to my own toy drawer. I may be smart, but the curiosity just takes over, if you know what I mean. But hey, every hero has flaws, right?

🐾 Yes, She Has Other Pets – No, I’m Not Jealous (Okay, Maybe a Little)

There are a few other furry friends around. But let’s be real—I’m the favorite. Besides, feathers are way cooler than fur. Ella tells me secrets she doesn’t tell anyone else. She laughs at my jokes, even when they get her grounded. And she always saves me a bite of banana. That’s true love!

So if you’re ready to dive into The Rabbit’s Foot, the first book in the Ella Strawberry series, just remember: you’re not just following Ella’s story, you’re following our story.

Me and Ella, wing to heart. ❤️🦜

Oh, I forgot—the book’s not out yet. As soon as the release date hits my earhole, you can bet I’ll sing it from my perch top.

Stick around—there’s plenty more to come. Mystery. Friendship. Faith. And at least one parrot who might accidentally blow Ella’s cover at a very bad time. (Don’t worry—I make up for it.)

PIPER'S Q & A

We already got a question from an advance reader! I just about fell off my perch!

Question: "Did you overhear a conversation between Ella's parents the day before the boat blew up?" — Rose from Denver

Answer: Eeeeek! Rose, you clever cracker-snatcher! Already digging into the juiciest subplot before Book One hits the shelves. You'd make a fine feathered detective. 🕵️‍♀️🦜 Officially, the boss (that's the author—I'm nothing without her so I listen . . . most of the time) says not to spill any major beans while the edits are still fluttering—I mean, ongoing. I hear the edit process is like me trying to corral Ella's rabbit, Peter, back into his cage. She says rabbits are smart. But it's best to keep my opinions to myself and that's never easy.

But . . . since it's just you and me and I trust a fellow mystery-lover, I'll share this chatter: the day before the boat went boom, Ella's parents scurried all over the house, whispering, packing stuff, and poking around Ella's room while she was at school. I pretended to nap, but there was rustling, and not the snack bag kind. I kept thinking, "If they forget my freeze-dried mangos, so help me . . ." So—did I hear something? Maybe. Did it mean something? That's for you and Ella to find out. 😉Until next time, keep your feathers smooth and your instincts sharp.

Squawk soon,

ree
